If you haven’t done so yet, please be sure to read our Marketplace Terms and Conditions.
If you’re looking for an overview of how the Template Marketplace works, go here.
If you want to learn how to create a Theme in Teachery, go here.
When a potential customer is looking at your Theme, you want to make sure they can clearly see their next Course created using the Theme.
The Courses we see created most often that you should build Themes are around:
Standard Teaching Courses (simple Lessons)
Memberships (Lessons and Sublessons are mandatory)
Digital Download Course (usually a simple 1-3 Lesson Course)
We’ll list out the pages we recommend you create in the next section, but overall you want to stick to Teachery’s main structure and pages:
Overview Page - Think of this as the “welcome mat” of a course
Lesson Pages - These give specific instructions on how to accomplish the promise of the course
Sublesson Pages - These supplement their parent Lessons with more info
Payment Pages - These help students purchase and checkout
Landing Pages - These help sell a student on why they should buy the course
Login Pages - These are the simple login, set password, reset password, etc pages

A Theme should be easy for someone to understand at a glance. Don’t overthink or overcomplicate your design and layout.
This one is pretty obvious
. Every Theme in Teachery requires an Overview page, but try not to overstuff it with extras. Remember, someone is going to need to customize this Course when they use it.
As mentioned earlier, a purchaser of your Theme is going to change almost all of the content within a Lesson. We recommend showing how to include text areas, images, embedded videos, and customizing the right column Lesson Resources box.
Extremely similar to Lessons, you don’t need to overdo it here. But, it is helpful to show how Sublesson content fits into a Course and how to keep things organized.
You’ll want to create a Payment Page or two to show off the layout of Teachery’s checkout pages.
Fixed Price - We recommend creating a fixed price (Ex: $20) page
Recurring Price - We also recommend creating a recurring (Ex: $10/month) page
TIP: Don’t forget, you can use the “Add Payment Options” feature to link the pages together
.These are NOT mandatory to be included. We DO think it’s helpful to create and style a Landing Page with your Theme. When our new Landing Page builder (Q2 2025) arrives, it will be much easier to create sales pages, email capture pages, etc.
The simple Login, Set Password, Reset Password, Update Billing, and Cancel Recurring Payments page should be styled to match the rest of the Theme.
One of our strongest recommendations we can make when creating your Theme is to include a DRAFT Lesson that explains how to customize the Theme!
This DRAFT Lesson should be placed first in the order of lessons and can include any sort of walk-through details to help your customer customize the course.
Feel free to record a short video where you go through the Theme page by page and embed this in the DRAFT Lesson. It’s likely your Theme buyer may not have used Teachery before, so you can give them a quick tutorial on creating and customizing a Course.
You are more than welcome to add Custom Code and Custom CSS to your Theme design if you believe it enhances the experience for your buyer.
We believe it’s mandatory to share this in advance, so a buyer is not surprised if they need to update any of this code or CSS to get the most out of using the Theme.
In your DRAFT Lesson, include sections about the Custom Code and CSS used. Share:
Where to access the Custom Code
Where to access the Custom CSS
What to change in either area and how to change it
A short video in the DRAFT Lesson about this would help!
Did we mention to keep it simple?
Yes, we want you to showcase your amazing skills at building customizable Courses using Teachery, but the person who purchases the Theme needs to be able to easily use it to benefit from it!
Whether it’s for the Overview page Header Image, graphics throughout the course, etc, including easy-to-update image templates is hugely helpful.
Most folks are used to using Canva, but if you want to share other templates you can, just provide some sort of documentation/walk through to customize them.
We’ve all written Custom CSS that takes a detective to decipher through. Use best practices when organizing your Code/CSS and include helpful comments in the Code/CSS to guide the user.
TIP: Give your messy Code/CSS to an AI (like GPT) and ask it to “clean and add comments” throughout to improve it.
Once your Themes are live and in our Marketplace, send emails, post on social, get the word out that your Themes are featured and available for sale (or for free)
